Healthy-Not Boring-Salads

When you think of a salad what image pops into your head? Is it some type of leafy vegetable, carrots, tomatoes, and dressing? If so, what if I told you that salads can be both tasty, fun to make, and healthy! In this post, I’m going to teach you how to liven up your salads.

Step 1: Pick your base – mix and match!

• Lettuce

• Spinach

• Kale

• Arugula

• Mixed Greens

Step 2: Topping options – pick as many as you’d like!

• Proteins: Chicken, turkey, lean ham, bacon, boiled eggs, chickpeas

• Vegetables: carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, black/pinto beans, gorgonzola, avocados, roasted corn, dried sweet potatoes, broccoli

• Fruits: apples, pears, dried cranberries

• Cheese: shredded cheddar, pepper jack, or goat (or any cheese you like)

• Others: croutons, tortilla strips, cilantro, walnuts, peanuts, almonds, sunflower seeds

Step 3: Dressings

• Lite Ranch and/or mixed with chipotle sauce

• Lite Blue cheese

• Balsamic vinaigrette

• Lite Thousand Island
